How do I get to Pineview Reservoir?

Pineview Reservoir is around eight miles from Ogden, in the heart of the Ogden Valley, UT. From Ogden, take Utah Highway 39 through the Ogden Canyon. If you’re coming from the south, take the I-84 Weber Canyon, exit through the Mountain Green, and turn to the Trappers Loop (Highway 167).

Do I have to pay to enter?

That will depend on the area you want to explore. Anderson Cove, Port Ramp Marina, Middle Inlet, and Cemetery Point charge a fee of around $15 for those with a boat and $7 for walk-ins. By paying a fee, you will also get access to pavilions, picnic areas, and restrooms.

If you want free access, head to the Windsurfer Beach, Spring Creek, or North Arm. There are also some non-regulated areas that don’t have facilities. If you go for this option, just make sure you follow parking regulations…

Is it pet friendly?

Yes, your four-legged friend is welcome in some areas of Pineview Reservoir. Restricted areas include Port Ramp, Cemetery Point, and Middle Inlet. If you’re camping on Anderson Cove Campground, you can bring two dogs, but they’ll need to be on a leash at all times. Service dogs, however, can enter all beaches, even in prohibited areas

Can I camp here?

Camping is not allowed on the beaches, except for an overnight stay in Anderson Cove Campground.

Is this a good place for fishing?

Yes! Pinewood Reservoir is a favorite among fishing enthusiasts. The peak season is between May and July, but you’ll get a nibble whatever time you arrive. The reservoir is home to yellow perch, largemouth bass, black crappie, bullhead catfish, and tiger muskellunge.

What else can I do in Pineview Reservoir?

You can go boating, windsurfing, and swimming. Head to Cemetery Point, Anderson Cove Campground, and Middle Inlet Beach which are good for day use, to enjoy their sandy beaches.

Are there any rentals available?

There are few vendors in the area, but some of them offer equipment for water sports, boats, and other activities. You can rent a watercraft in Chris’s restaurant and Club Rec, which also offers jet-skis, marine supplies, kayaks, and paddleboards. If you want to explore one of the trails, you can rent a mountain bike at Diamond Peak.
